Vol. 9 No. 1 (2020): SOCIOSCIENTIFIC CONTROVERSIES ON THE INTERDISCIPLINARY PERSPECTIVE FOR TEACHER TRAINING

Capa com título da edição

Research on Socioscientific Controversies (SSC) has arisen in the context of a century comprised of scientific and technological unpredicted turns. Its impacts have reached society, mass media, and educational institutions. In addition, scientific and technological education has changed, and new issues have been
discussed in connection to that, both at schools and in different social spaces widely and interdisciplinary. Thus, the Socioscientific Issue approach seems to embody an integrating perspective in education. The SSC involve discussions on social affairs linked to current scientific knowledge, and therefore, seen in mass
media such as radio, TV, newspaper and the Internet. Within this context, this special edition reassures education commitment to social affairs which question teaching and learning processes in an interdisciplinary way, articulating debates and investigations in this direction. Thus, the issue brings together pieces of work resulting from research that merge teacher training and Socioscientific Controversies (SSC) in an interdisciplinar perspective, by encompassing a number of topics from different educational contexts.
