Vol. 11 No. 1 (2022): Creative Learning: Possibilities and Potentials for Education
The social changes triggered by technological development make traditional educational practices, shaped for a society that no longer exists, give way to new practices. The use of active student-centered methodologies in project development, problem solving, gamification, among others, has received special attention. However, the pedagogical approach adopted in the use of those methodologies often remains instructional and with little prominence on the part of the student. The development of new skills necessary for the society we live in depends on the adoption of a pedagogical approach that allows students to learn as well as learn to live together. Creative Learning pedagogical approach, proposed by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab, advocates the creation of learning experiences based on an educational process in the form of a spiral, in which the student imagines, creates, plays, shares and reflects, generating new ideas and restarting the process. For this process to happen, the approach is stood on the use of "Projects" defined in agreement between teachers and students, in order to arouse the interest and respect the "Passion" of students, who develop and share their findings in "Pairs", and allow experimentation as well as error in a "Thinking at play". Creative Learning comes from Seymour Papert's Constructionism, for which the student builds his/her knowledge in a more relevant way when building something. Thus, this special edition aimed at bringing together works resulting from practical, theoretical and/or empirical research by using the concepts of Creative Learning in the design of learning experiences.
