View Vol. 8 No. 2 (2019): DIMENSIONS OF INFORMATICS AND SOCIETY

Since the second half of the 20th century, Informatics has featured prominently in society as it has created new ways of interaction between human beings and machines. From mainframes and ARPANET to personal computadores, smartphones e Internet, artefacts, techniques and ideas in the field of information technology have been progressively incorporated in society, broking and affecting social and cultural relations through stronger links to human subjectivity. Thus, this special edition intends to bring together pieces of research concerned with different dimensions of informatics and society, by arousing critical and innovative  discussions and dialogues on their educational, social, cultural and political aspects. The issue is comprised of scientific works focused on educational experiences and historical perspectives of computer technologies, as well as the ones involving digital inclusion, the world of work, the maker and hacker culture, ethical and political aspects on social media.
