Contemporary Methodologies and the use of information and communication technologies: a qualitative analysis

Abstract

This study presents the results of a qualitative analysis related to the understanding presented by Basic Education teachers (Elementary School II and High School) with regard to the meaning of the term Contemporary Methodologies. For this purpose, a field survey was conducted with Brazilian Basic Education teachers in 2023. In total, 40 teachers answered the initial questionnaire. In the questionnaire, most teachers stated that they use contemporary methodologies in their practices, although they presented some distortions regarding the concept. The teachers who mentioned using Contemporary Methodologies in the classroom mention modern and current methodologies and active methodologies, or relate it to the use of information and communication technology. It should be emphasized that this research needs to be continued, as it is still in its initial stage.

  • Karen Mainardes, UNINTER International University Center

    Karen Mainardes was born on August 4, 2003. Daughter of Jeanier Mainardes dos Reis Matos and Genesio Alves de Matos, born in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso do Sul. She moved to the interior of Rio de Janeiro, in the city of Paraty, where she is graduating with a degree in Mathematics and Pedagogy from Centro Universitário Internacional Uninter and Universidade Ampli Anhanguera.

    In 2023 she joined the Mediation and Scientific Initiation Program offered by Uninter, entitled Teaching and Learning Processes in the Exact Area through Contemporary Methodologies, where she mediated article reading meetings; speeches; presentations of scientific work and public two articles in academic weeks of mathematics and physics, as well as at the Enfoc 2023 event.

  • Emille Souza, UNINTER International University Center
    Emille Souza was born in November 1997 in the city of Santo Antônio de Jesus, in the interior of Bahia, where she currently lives. She is the daughter of Eliana Cardoso and José Raimundo, a teacher and truck driver, respectively. Always in search of knowledge, she graduated in Pharmacy from Centro Universitário Maria Milza and, with the intention of contributing to Brazilian education, is graduating in Chemistry from Centro Universitário Internacional (UNINTER). In 2023, he joined the Scientific Initiation Program offered by UNINTER, entitled Teaching and Learning Processes in the Exact Area through Contemporary Methodologies, in which he participated in lectures at the institution, with article presentations, and publication of the article Contemporary learning methodology : a concept analysis, together with other members of the program.      
  • Marcelina Maria, UNINTER International University Center

    Graduated in Mathematics from Centro Universitário Internacional - UNINTER, (2020 - 2024) where I was a scholarship holder for the PIC scientific initiation program, whose line of research is Teaching and Learning Processes in the Exact Area through Contemporary Methodologies. I am a graduate of the public network at all levels of education, and I work in the state network of Piauí as a Teaching Supervisor.

    PhD in Education from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (2022); Master in Science and Mathematics Teaching from the Federal Technological University of Paraná (2018); Specialist in Innovation and Technologies in Education from the Federal Technological University of Paraná (2019); Specialist in Clinical and Institutional Psychopedagogy from the Rhema Group (2016) and specialist in Psychomotricity also from the Rhema Group (2016); Graduated in Mathematics from the Federal University of Paraná (2005) and graduated in Pedagogy from Centro Universitário Internacional Uninter (2020). She has been a member of GPTEM (Research Group on Technologies in Mathematics Education) since the second half of 2016; She has been a member of the CIDES Group (Creativity Research and Teaching Innovation in Higher Education) since 2019; She is a member of the EAD, In-person and Hybrid Group: various professional, management, curriculum, learning and public policy scenarios, since 2021. She has worked as a Basic Education teacher and Higher Education teacher. She has also worked as a manager at a Basic Education school and a Higher Education institution. Currently a distance learning professor at Centro Universitário Internacional Uninter. It produces different teaching materials for some educational institutions and carries out research in the area of ​​teacher training, especially those who work in Basic Education, Mathematics Education and those who use Digital Technologies in the teaching and learning processes. She also develops research on Self-Regulated Learning.
