Abstract

This study examines how embodied escrevivências produce meanings about bodies and their intersections with gender, race, and sexuality within formative processes, based on narratives written by graduate students. Grounded in Cultural Studies, the research adopts a qualitative interpretive approach. The corpus consists of 13 escrevivências produced in the context of the course unit “Body, Culture and Education”. Data production occurred through the proposal of embodied escrevivência as a pedagogical and analytical device. The analytical process involved exploratory reading, thematic organization, and interpretation of meanings produced in the narratives. The results indicate that self writing anchored in embodied experiences mobilizes memories marked by pain, trauma, and interdictions, especially those related to the female body, racialization, and social norms. The findings also show that these narratives function as a space for critical elaboration of lived experiences, enabling the construction of strategies of resistance. The study concludes that embodied escrevivência constitutes a relevant tool for analyzing the relationships between body, culture, and education, contributing to formative practices that are more attentive to subjectivities.
