Abstract

This article presents a digital game designed to facilitate the development and consolidation of literacy skills. Considering the documented benefits of educational games for teaching and learning in a range of subject areas, the “Human Body Puzzle” was developed and implemented in a third-grade classroom at a municipal school in Porto Alegre. The methodology employed was action research, which entailed the construction, implementation, and assessment of this pedagogical tool. Data was gathered through participant observation, video recording, a questionnaire, analysis of results obtained from a database and verification of students’ alphabetic level. The findings show enhanced learning outcomes in literacy, advancement to the alphabetical level and motivation to carry out activities. Ultimately, the study underscores the value of digital games in education and highlights the necessity for further investigation in this domain.
