Abstract

This work seeks to reflect on possible contributions of Digital Information and Communication Technologies (DICT) to the integration in the school context. In order to do that, it starts with an exploratory approach to these two fields – digital Technologies in Education and the integration of knowledge – whose aim is to identify points of contact. Still as part of the methodological approach, this qualitative investigation has conducted a case study in Nova Santa Rita City/Rio Grande do Sul during which Municipal school managers and teachers were interviewed with the purpose of identifying possible ways in which the two aforementioned fields relate to each other. The results have identified a relation between DICT and knowledge integration, and one of the main obstacles to its implementation appears to be the insufficient technological infrastructure. Overall, the teachers do not yet explore DICT with the objective of integrating knowledge, but they notice a potential for improving teaching and learning processes as these resources evolve.
