The present article analyzed the difficulties of learning mathematics in the Physics Degree course at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Ceará (IFCE), Tianguá Campus. This study was idealized because, historically, many of the students of Basic Education have serious learning difficulties in Mathematics, during their training period, and may generate a huge deficit in the teaching-learning process at the Higher level. Thus, the objective of this work was to analyze the difficulties presented by students of the Physics Degree course at the Tianguá Campus, in the field of teaching Mathematics. Thus, a qualitative research was carried out with students and teachers from the Campus, in order to confirm such difficulties in the Mathematics subjects and, consequently, the possible losses presented in the subsequent semesters. Finally, the research verified how this accumulation of academic deficit can occur and the possible solutions to minimize, or even eliminate these obstacles. However, for this to happen, it is necessary to carry out a work that involves managers, teachers and, mainly, students, in order to perceive the problem as a reality on the Campus, and to have the maximum effort to guarantee the quality of teaching in Mathematics in the Physics course.
