Abstract

Due to the inadequate eating habits of Brazilians and the need for studies on the training of pedagogues for teaching healthy eating subjects, this work aimed to analyze the academic training, successful experiences and challenges of teacher educators of five Pedagogy courses. from the state of Ceará on carrying out educational practices with the theme Food and Nutrition Education (EAN). For this, an electronic questionnaire and/or an interview was carried out with seven pedagogues who teach subjects that are related to the EAN, such as Science Teaching and Health Education. It was found that most teachers of the Pedagogy courses investigated did not have training on the topic of healthy eating, their experiences are limited to welfare, nutritional aspects and, in a few cases, the perspective of the subjects' life (cultural, social, environmental, among others). As for the difficulties, the lack of academic preparation was detected as the majority, reflecting bachelor's degrees or in areas of knowledge other than science teaching. Therefore, it is necessary to invest in the preparation of these teachers, who are essential for the initial training of future pedagogues.
