Complex Thinking and Teaching: Systematic Review of Theses and Dissertations in the period from 2000 to 2020

Abstract

This article presents a systematic literature review, based on selected dissertations and theses in the Brazilian Digital Library Database, which bring Complex Thought as a theoretical contribution and deal with formal teaching situations in Basic Education. The objective is to understand how this way of conceiving knowledge is presented in research, since its main representative, Edgar Morin, defends the need for a reform of thinking, teaching and institutions, accustomed to fostering the construction of knowledge in a linear, reductionist and fragmented, as is typical of Modern Science. From the applied search filters and the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, we arrived at 25 works, whose data were organized and produced through Content Analysis, from the reading of the works, in order to answer the following elaborated questions: which the purposes of investigations; how was the participation of the theoretical framework in research and what were its predominant ideas; what results they got. In the effort to reduce that categorization imposes and in the recognition of the multiple relationships that escape writing, this review reveals the strength of the dominant paradigm and the possibilities of the emerging paradigm.
