Abstract

Abstract: The paper addresses the guidelines for Portuguese language courses in Basic Education as stated by the National Common Curricular Base - BNCC, drawing on the concept of literacy and its consequences. It uses the idea of educational work from Historical Critical Pedagogy as a horizon for this, introducing and discussing the presence of the term "literacy" and its variants in the BNCC, especially in the formulation of multiliteracies. It concludes that the recommendations point to the prioritisation of digital culture objects and elements over reading and writing, which resonates in students' education.
