Promoting the Textual Production Teaching and Learning through Digital Interactive Fiction: Alt Story - a Proposal for a Study Unit Model

Abstract

Abstract: This paper presents the Alt Story, a proposal of a study unit (SU) model for the production, presentation and evaluation of digital interactive fiction in Portuguese language classes, in order to promote language development. From the analysis of approaches to SU, the model was developed, which is based on five central phases: SU contextualization, SU planning, development of digital interactive fiction, presentation and evaluation of digital interactive fiction. The model was evaluated by professionals in the area, such as Portuguese language teachers and educational games researchers. As results, the model quality can be highlighted, considering criteria such as ambiguity, consistency, completeness, comprehensibility, correctness, flexibility, usability and usefulness, as well as its potential related to textual production learning and learning experience. From the evaluation, the following aspects are highlighted: the possibility of interdisciplinary work with different knowledge areas, the production of different textual genres, the promotion of multiliteracy practices and the increase of student involvement in their learning.
