Investigations on Astronomy Education: state of knowledge of RELEA, SNEA, RBEF and CBEF

Abstract

Abstract: This work aims to analyze and infer about publications in the area of ??Astronomy Education, between the years 2004 and 2017, in order to reveal trends and research saturations. Based on Content Analysis, 513 articles and abstracts from Simpósio Nacional de Educação em Astronomia, from Revista Latino-Americana de Educação em Astronomia, from Revista Brasileira de Ensino de Física and from Caderno Brasileiro de Ensino de Física were analyzed. We found as a result some research trends in the area of ??Astronomy Education. Among them, the growth in the number of publications, the diversity of research objects, techniques, methodologies and theoretical foundations. In addition, we noted the absence of certain information in the analyzed papers that we call “unspecified” as the research’s theoretical methodological references. Based on the assumption that the area of ??Astronomy Education still has much to develop, we emphasize the importance of this work, given that it provides an overview of the progression of academic production in the area and, consequently, points out directions for future research.
