Biotechnology in the Training of Biology Teacher: A Systematic Review of the Literatures

Abstract

Abstract: In the area of Biotechnology, several discoveries have guided advances for society using scientific and technological knowledge. Its goods and services are part of the everyday life of the entire population in general. Nevertheless, the introduction of biotechnological themes in educational spaces goes through the formation of teachers. In this perspective, the objective of the present paper was to investigate the scenario of national and international research regarding the insertion of Biotechnology in the formation of Biology teachers. To this end, mixed research was developed, using the assumptions of bibliographic research of the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) type, of secondary nature, with well-defined search protocols and guiding questions. Data were obtained from Google Academic, CAPES Periodicals, SciELO, Arca, ERIC, ACM, Scopus, and ScienceDirect databases published in the last ten years (2012-2022). The quantitative analysis showed that there is a lack of studies that contemplate the theme, however, there is a growing trend in the number of research in the last decade. The qualitative analysis revealed that the research is incipient regarding the approach of biotechnological topics directed to teacher education. Therefore, the results point to the need for investment in research that promotes a more centralized debate between Teaching of Biotechnology in Basic Education.
