(Updated August 2024)

#Tear: Journal of Education, Science and Technology encourages scientific-academic production on education and its relations with science and technology through the dialogue between different fields of knowledge. The journal accepts original unpublished manuscripts in compliance with its purpose.

The journal has a semestral workflow. Manuscripts submitted from April to August will be reviewed from September and, if accepted, published in the December edition. Manuscripts submitted from September to March will be reviewed from April and, if accepted, published in the July edition. #Tear does not work with pre-selected papers as all the manuscripts are submitted to double blind peer-reviewing.

The editorial process is biannual and consists of the following steps: a) pre-evaluation by the Editorial Board; b) blind peer review (with at least two ad hoc referees); c) communication with the authors about the editorial decision (Accepted, mandatory corrections, rejection); d) period of suitability of the papers and resubmission of the text corrected/ adjusted by the authors; e) re-evaluation of the papers by the section editors; f) editing/editing process of the papers  approved for publication; g) publication.

Texts must be written either in Portuguese, English and/or Spanish. Manuscripts should be submitted for double-blind review in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice or RTF format, WITHOUT any identification of the authors. Only accepted manuscripts will have their author's details asked to be included.

For manuscripts involving research with human beings, it is a requirement that authors mention in the file, as a footnote, that the work has previously been submitted to a Research Ethics Committee. For texts with imagens and/or real names stated in there should be in the file, as a footnote, some information mentioning that the participants authorised their pictures/images to names to be revealed. The publication of research involving human subjects, human material, or human data (e.g. personal details/images), as well as the opinions and statements contained in the papers are entirely the responsibility of the authors.

The Journal is comprised of the following sections:

Dossier [Dossiê] (publishes papers related to each special issue theme).

Free Section [Seção Livre] (publishes papers related to the Journal purpose but not to the theme suggested for Dossier).

Reviews [Resenhas] (publishes reviews of books on education, science and technology that have been published for the last 2 years).

Plural Area [Espaço Plural] (publishes texts from different genres, such as educational experience reports and interviews, as well as students' academic papers)

Master and Doctor degree holders can submit texts to the Dossier, Reviews, and the Free Section.  Undergraduate and graduate students as well as specialists, Master and Doctor degree holders can submit texts to the Plural Area.

In the case of student work submitted to Espaço Plural, it will be mandatory to present, as a supplementary document to the submission, a signed declaration from the supervisor stating that the manuscript has been reviewed and approved by him/her for submission to the journal. Works by students without this declaration may be rejected at the pre-evaluation stage.

Texts submitted by vocational course and undergraduate students must be co-authored by a supervisor holding a Master or a Doctor Degree.

Important: ALL authors/co-authors are required to register their personal details in the metadata at the time of submission on the system, according to the guidelines in the Submission Tutorial (available here), under penalty of rejection at the pre-evaluation stage.

It will not be possible to include or change the list of authors/co-authors. Authors who have no details added properly may have their submission rejected.
