This study presents Linear Diophantine Equations as a mathematics resource available to High School learners, within an analysis that comprehends the historical aspects that underlie the elementary number theory to its application in a group of high school first-year students at a Federal Institute of Maranhão (IFMA) campus. The work present is situated in the field of empirical research with a quanti-qualitative approach conducted through didactic sequence, intervention and questionnaire applied to the student group. The developed activities aimed to analyze the students’ comprehension regarding problems that contain two variables and only one equation, with the resolution from the Linear Diophantine Equations with two unknowns. The results indicate that it is possible to appropriate the concepts proposed in High School. In conclusion, despite the difficulties, students could understand the concepts of Linear Diophantine Equations, and the activities promoted reflection and meaning of the contents involved.
