Construindo uma calculadora: uma atividade envolvendo Robótica, Programação e Matemática

O uso de calculadora em sala de aula sempre foi um tema polêmico. Com isso em mente, considerou-se que a construção de uma calculadora com o kit de robótica da LEGO pode possibilitar a reflexão sobre o uso e funcionamento da calculadora de maneira crítica pelo estudante. Baseado nas ideias construcionistas de Seymour Papert e nas direções curriculares dos projetos de robótica educacional da LEGO, pensou-se em uma prática em que os estudantes constroem uma calculadora, entendem a sua programação e refletem sobre seu uso em sala de aula e em outros contextos científicos e educacionais. Realizou-se a atividade com estudantes de oitavo ano (no sistema brasileiro de ensino fundamental de nove anos) e os dados registrados em relatório foram analisados. Foram encontradas diversas reflexões sobre o uso da calculadora em contextos educacionais, e sucesso parcial no entendimento do funcionamento de uma calculadora.
